Mental Models in Branding: How the Brain Files Your Brand
TL; DR: Brands are filed before they are evaluated. The brain pattern-matches every new brand against an existing schema, and signals that fit are trusted faster while signals that do not are forgotten. Perfect congruence is not the goal: research shows moderately incongruent brands are recalled and preferred more.
